Brigantine Beach Patrol

Founded in 1938, the Brigantine Beach Patrol has grown both in numbers and the skills required of its members. Current manpower strength is 83 working guards, both male and female, with six officers.The Beach Patrol sponsors swimming and rowing competitions and swimming clinics for youth.

Beach tags for the 2012 season will be available for purchase December 1st at the Brigantine Beach Community Center, located on 42nd Street.

Beach Tag Fees: 

Daily - $8.00

Weekly - $14.00

Seasonal – Beginning December 1, 2011 until May 29, 2012 $15.00

Seasonal – Beginning May 30, 2012 - $18.00

Seniors age 60 to 64 ($8.00 from 12-1-2011 to 5-29-2012) After 5-30-2012 - $18.00

Seniors over 65 and children under 12 - Free

 

 

 

Swimming - Swimming is permitted at protected beaches only.

Surfing - Surfing is permitted at the following beaches:

12th Street North

10th Street South

North of South End Jetty

South of the Sandy Lane bathing area

Surfers (or aspiring surfers) may also contact the Brigantine Beach Waveriders at (609) 266-SURF for information about surfing tournaments and clinics for youths.

 

 

Drive-On Beach Info

4 Wheel Drive Permits for the 2012 Season will go on sale December 1st at the Brigantine Beach Community Center located on 42nd Street.

Driving a four-wheel drive is permitted on the beach, as long as a permit is obtained. (See fee table below). Permits will be now be valid from January till December. Permit holders must follow rules and regulations of permit. Permanently Disabled persons need to provide documentation with proof of permanent disability to receive discount. For information regarding permits please call 266-2891. Applicants should present a valid driver’s license, auto registration and proof of insurance.


4 Wheel drive permit $175.00. Vehicle owners 60 & over $85.00

Permanently Disabled Persons $85.00

Replace Lost Permit $30

All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) are not permitted on the beach. Drive, All Wheel Drive Vehicles do not qualify for a permit. Vehicles MUST be Four Wheel Drive.

 South End of Lagoon Blvd.

 Harbor Beach Blvd. & Seaside Road.

 North End - 14th St. North.

 

 

 

 

Boats and Watercraft

The Boat Ramp is located at 5th St. South and Bayshore Avenue. No permit is required at the Boat ramp for the 2011 Season.

Sailboats - Liscensed boats only. 6th Street N., 28th Street - 30th Street & 40th Street.
Jet SkisYou must have a permit to launch from designated beach. The cost is $125.00/yr. In order to obtain a permit, applicant must have a copy of Face sheet of insurance policy (minimum $500,000 liability insurance required). Permit holders must follow rules and regulations of permit. Jet Skiing is permitted in the inlet side of the South Jetty as designated by appropriately posted signs.

Kayaking - Kayaking is permitted at the following beaches:

 Adjacent to all Lifeguard protected beaches.
 The North-end beaches (North of 15th Street North).

 Absecon Inlet Beaches.
 Area between Sandy Lane and Seaside Road lifeguard station.
  26 Street South - City Dock Area.

 

 

 

 

Catamarans - Must have a permit, the cost is $150.00/yr. Permit applicant must have proof of Liability insurance. The launch area is located from Neptune Drive to Club Drive.
Parking of Boats and/or Trailers - Parking shall be prohibited within the City of Brigantine from October 1st to May 1st. From May 1st to September 30th, boats and/or trailers can be parked on the street in front of the owners/lessees property. No parking of boats and/or trailers on Ocean Avenue at anytime.

Kite Flying - Permitted on 34th Street South to 38th Street South.

Dogs on the Beach - October 1st to May 29th, dogs are allowed on the beach provided they are on a leash, not longer than 6 ft. Dog feces must be removed. Dogs allowed on the North-End Beach any time - same rules apply. See Public Notices for Pet Owners

Dunes, Fences & Beach Grass - Interference with, alteration, removal or destruction of sand dunes, vegetation, snow fences, or protective barriers along the beachfront is strictly prohibited. Violations punishable by fine not exceeding $200 or imprisonment.

Horseback Riding - Permit Needed - North End Beach - October 1st through March 30th, 7:00 - 8:30 pm. For permit information call 266-7600 ext. 220 or 221
